ESports betting

Let’s start by defining the term “eSports”, which means playing video games professionally. This happens in China, the United States and Europe, where this “profession” has had an extreme boom (only in 2019 an increase of 14,4%) and companies have been created specifically in order to recruit the most deserving players.

Evil Geniuses, Digitas, are just a couple of all the companies set up to turn talented youngsters into “pro-gamers”. They offer them a real salaried job, not to mention the revenue of the sponsors (usually hardware or software companies) who pay to have their name sewn on the same players’ uniforms.

Channels like ESPN, which had already extensively devoted similar services to poker, are now starting to take an interest in electronic sports. Let’s not forget the champions of the various specialties, which for now are known only to enthusiasts, but destined to become stars in a short time like poker professionals.

Nowadays, even the most prestigious tournament prizes are traveling on millions of dollars for both poker and videogamers. The new sector has received a great boost from the spread of fast internet almost everywhere, and from platforms like Twitch.tv, which allow gamers to keep in touch, communicate with each other and follow the samples of live video games while they are playing. So, where I can bet on eSports? Continue reading and you will know now.

Betting on eSports

It is very difficult to draw up a complete list of all electronic sports, because it would be almost endless. But we can mention the most famous video games, those that for one reason or another, have entered the hearts of millions of gamers around the world.

eSports betting League of Legends

The first is certainly “League of Legends“, with 70 million players a month, of which 27 million playing every day. This videogame is a MOBA or “Multiplayer online battle arena“, where two teams of 5 players try to fight each other by conquering the other’s base.

LOL is a real-time strategy game developed and published by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and macOS. Players are divided into 2 teams, and each one is composed of 3 or 5 champions based on the game map that is chosen. Each team starts on opposite sides of the map, near what is called a Nexus.

A game can be defined as won when the opposing team’s Nexus is destroyed or the opposite team gives up. To succeed in destroying a Nexus, each team must advance by destroying a series of towers called Turrets, which are found along the main lanes for both bases, called Lane.

eSports betting CSGO

Counter Strike: Global Offensive (or more briefly called CS: GO) is a multiplayer shooter video game, the initial idea was of two university students who in 98 put their hands to the code of Half-Life. Purchased later by Valve Software (the same as DOTA2), its current success is due above all to the fact that it was published as Half-Life’s free mod, takes advantage of the same graphics engine, and is playable online.

Behind these features there is a whole world of skill, technique and passion. There are already thousands of clans from all over the world, and in some countries it is practiced as a real-time electronic sport developed and distributed by Riot Games for Microsoft Windows and macOS.

CS: GO is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike series and is the sequel to Counter-Strike: Source. Playing online can be a lot of fun, as long as you have a good internet connection, as slow connection owners may experience slowdowns due to high latency.

Other games

We then have “Call of Duty“, a FPS, that is “First person shooter“, a shooter that has sold 150 million copies worldwide to date.

Dota 2” is another MOBA, to which every gamer aiming to earn money, absolutely must play: the “International 2014” tournament boasted a prize pool of 10 million dollars.

Other legendary titles are Overwatch, Halo, Magic the Gathering, Hearthstone, Star craft 2 and the most popular football videogame: FIFA.
